Blythe T-8 is a true Opal meaning it is the combination of two imiscible enamels. This enamel depends on your kiln temperature being accurate and should not be fired over 1355 degrees F.

The T-8 requires pretty careful handling.  It must not be fired hotter than 1350 F (730 C)  even 10 degrees hotter and it can turn an ugly opaque.  It is also silver sensitive so must not be in contact with silver or it will turn brown yellow.

We are getting our best results by only firing the T-8 5 to 8 times.  We leave the enamel immature (more than sugar less than orange peel) until the last firing.  Then on the last firing- longer NOT hotter to fire it to maturity.  It is magical when you follow these strict rules.  T-8 is a temperamental Goddess!
